One of the most effective methods for getting your company known is via classified ads. These are the basic, short, simple, advertisements you observe within the pages from news letters and between the articles in ezines. They are generally affordable, frequently even free, and simply available. There are many internet websites, newsletters and ezines that approve and display classified advertising, and therefore you can reach an important audience through this easy kind of promotion.

It’s not possible to just publish anything however. As with every other business ad or sales letter, your content should be well planned in order to be effective. The secret to publish classifieds that actually sell, is always to point out all of your important info with only several phrases.

To make sure that your ad will be read and answered, adopt these measures:

- Create an approximate version working with comprehensive phrases, indicating anything you want to say, then start reducing. Remove virtually any non-essential terms. Make use of action words and brief phrases. Get rid of everything that’s even marginally recurring.

- Be sure you use an appealing headline. Summarize the primary selling feature of your company, product or service with one short phrase. Then provide a little detail, however, not excessive. Make it brief.

- Generally add your telephone number and web address within the last lines to ensure that potential customers can easily contact you or access your website promptly.

- Create different versions of your classified ad then select the best.

- Try out your ads. Run a couple of them on free websites initially to determine you receive a reaction. Make sure to add a code within the ad info so that you recognize which advertisement generated the reply.

- Once you discover an advert that is effective, keep deploying it. Even though you’re sick of that doesn’t mean the target audience is. They don’t really visualize it as frequently as you do.

Using classified ads is often rather rewarding, and shouldn’t be complicated. Simply adopt these measures, and you could realize your business successful.

After five-year effort of attempting to revolutionize TV advertising, using auctions and algorithms from 2007, Google has given up, and quietly announced in a blogpost that it would close its TV Ads in Adwords product later this year. The desicion was motivated by the growing interest in watching content across mobile devices, Google reported.

The article explained “In 2007, we launched Google TV Ads in AdWords to bring digital buying and measurement technologies to traditional TV advertising. Since then, lots of our clients have bought traditional TV advertising for the first time…. However, video is increasingly going digital and users are now watching across numerous devices. So we’ve made the hard decision to close our TV Ads product over the next few months and move the team to other areas at Google.” The program, which initially joined NBCUniversal and the Hallmark Channel, was expected to incorporate the speed, flexibility and targeting capabilities of the world wide web with the emotional impact of the 30-second spot. Its network of associates allowed clients to reach around 42mn US television families across more than 100 TV networks, including ESPN, TNT and CNN.

Google TV Ads was not very successful, but Google made an effort for quite some time after closing similar services for newpapers and radio advertising in 2009. The ad platform was anticipated to receive an important increase from Google TV, in an attempt to marry the PC-based Internet and the conventional TV broadcasting. It demonstrates again that Google is trying to play a long game. While online video’s $3.12 billion market is far from TV’s $70 billion segment, Google is always able to foresee the trends, as TV goes digital and spreads to mobile devices. Meanwhile, Google is promoting its popular YouTube video website to become more like a traditional broadcaster, with channels of professional and frequently up-to-date content, in an effort to get more regular visitors and more valuable advertising.

“We’ll be doubling down on video solutions for our clients (like YouTube, AdWords for Video, and ad serving tools for web video publishers),” Mr. Mehrotra wrote. “We also see opportunities to help users access web content on their TV screens, through products like Google TV.”

Concentrating on on their strongest area, the Internet, this is an indicator that Google is not ready to control traditional advertising like TV, newspapers and radio, but also newer and more sophisticated projects (such as Google TV, Google Project Glass, and the world’s first self-driving car).

Obsolete state legislation enable major financial institutions and other investors who specialize in buying up liens, to reap profits by buying the houses and reselling them, the National Consumer Law Center said in a report released Tuesday. Local governments can seize and sell a home if the owner falls behind on property taxes and fees. The procedure helps governments pay the bills during a period when low property values and the weak economy are contracting tax revenue. When homeowners don’t pay property taxes or any other municipal bills, like water or sewer fees, local governments have less money to maintain services like schools, police and fire departments and road maintenance. By selling tax liens, those governments can collect on what it is owed. But tax debts no more than $400 may cause people to lose their properties as a result of outdated laws and misinformation among consumers. The consequences are disastrous for people, families and communities. The report warns that this practice can result in a second foreclosure crisis.

Tax lien sales are actually a great investment for those who are tempted to take full advantage of “get rich quick” schemes. While many banks currently only provide interest rates on deposits of under 1 percent, some states are allowing the purchasers of tax liens to earn mortgage rates up to 20 to 50 percent, the report noted. That’s the reason why tax lien sales are often promoted on the internet and though late-night TV infomercials. A tax lien sale can begin even if a property owner only owes several hundred dollars. A $200,000 home can be sold at a tax lien sale for only $1,200.

The report cited a case of an 81-year-old Rhode Island woman who fell behind on a $474 sewer bill. A company acquired the house in a tax sale for $836.39. The woman was evicted from the house she had lived in for more than 40 years and the corporation resold the property for $85,000.

The elderly are particularly vulnerable: due to high unemployment and declining home values, property tax delinquencies have increased to about $15 billion a year. Another aged Montana woman, who lived alone and had no close family to support her, fell more than $5,000 behind on taxes, the report said. After she didn’t reply to letters from the company that bought her home in a tax sale, she was evicted from her Missoula home. Consequently, she lost about $150,000 in equity in the property.

The report said state authorities need to make it easier for homeowners to retake their properties after tax lien sales. It said they have to limit the interest and penalties investors charge and increase court oversight. It also called on local governments to allow people pay back taxes or fees to investors on an installment plan, and to increase notice to homeowners and ensure they understand their rights.

Many buyers looking for cheap pets in other areas were scammed. When you come across puppies for free adoption advertisements, that that really need re-homing think twice before taking action. Scammers usually steal photos and descriptions from other classified ads or hijack the true advertisement in order to attract potential customers.

A family from Massachussets, United States was scammed while attempting to buy a puppy from a Pensylvania breeder and decided to purchase. They lost $2,200 and the puppy who they thought would be a friend to their four children.

Beyond the possibility of being scammed from a web based breeder there is the risk of buying a puppy coming from a puppy mill organization. People planning to get a purebred puppy should meet the puppy’s parents and examine the living environment firsthand. It is better to adopt a homeless dog from a rescue organization or animal shelter.

Another family from Phoenix Arizona was scammed in a classified ad for animals, by a woman which stated that she had two bulldogs, a male and a female, that really needed re-homing. The puppies were free, but the buyers would have to pay a $150 transportation fee to a company to get the dog shipped to Arizona. So, they wired the funds as required. But as soon as they did, the company said they also needed to wire an extra $1,200 to cover insurance, money which was fully refundable when the bulldog successfully arrived.

They wired the $1,200, thinking they would get it back as soon as the dog arrived. Nevertheless, there was another request for $400 and $300 for vaccines and they wired again the money. When the bulldog reached Sky Harbor International Airport was extremely sick and the company needed yet another $700 for treatment before it can be released. That cute little bulldog was meant to be free, the family invested more than $2,000 in their pet. They realized it was a scam too late.

Scammers play ofter on your emotions. Make sure you deal with a legitimate company when you buy a dog or a puppy. Deal locally and avoid wire money via Western Union. Avoid too good to be true and free offers. Scammers claim often to be charitable or religious organisations, pastors or sisters. Avoid buying pets from Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, as we see more and more scams with pets coming from these countries, only buy from safe countries (UK, USA).

Mystery Shopper’ scam re-emerge in classified ads

The Mystery Shopper or Secret Shopper scam is a form of advanced fee scam. The suspects pose as recruiters and encourage victims with job opportunities which are advertised in the classified sections of newspapers, magazines, tabloids and classifieds websites on the internet.

The typical Mystery Shopper scenario involves a victim responding to an ad to become a mystery shopper or getting an unsolicited deal in the mail requesting their assistance as a mystery shopper. The package includes a letter detailing the job description which would be to test random companies’ customer care procedure, instructions and cheques. The victim is going to be instructed to cash the cheques, buy a variety of items, keep the products they purchased and then wire transfer or e-transfer the extra money back to the suspects.

The victim will later discover the cheque is a fake. Subsequently, the victim’s bank will hold them financially liable for the amount of the cheque.

In order to protect yourself from this type of scam follow these rules:

make sure you do some research about the company you are applying to work for prior to accepting the job

be skeptical of any job opportunity which involves no interview and no direct contact with your employer

be suspicious of anyone offering to send you a cheque in the mail with instructions for you to cash the cheque and forward money via money transfer.

The BBB stated in a current bulletin, are companies asking for a fee in advance for aid in securing financial assistance for college are of special issue. In a recent scam, pupils were informed they were final contestants to get a scholarship but had to pay a fee for being considered. Rather than paying fees in advance, students should check with college counselors and educational funding offices for instructions.

Health insurance – Various companies associated with a telemarketing scheme that allegedly misled customers into buying ineffective medical discount plans have accepted repay some victims and also to stop distribute false advertising to consumers. The Federal Trade Commission had accused the companies of targeting people looking for cheap health insurance and getting them to pay for discounted medical plans which were not insurance. In a settlement with the FTC, Health Care One, Americans4Healthcare Inc., Elite Business Solutions Inc. and Mile High Enterprise Inc. as well as their principals consented to cease the method and to surrender profits from the selling of an Aston Martin, a Maserati, a yacht and 2 motorcycles to the government.

Ponzi scheme – The Securities and Exchange Commission has charged a Northern California investment consultant of defrauding clients by making false promises about earnings and the way their funds will be invested. The SEC said John A. Geringer, who managed GLR Growth Fund in Scotts Valley, explained to customers that his fund made between 17% and 25% annual profits when his investments actually were depreciating. He also used new investor funds to cover dividends to previous clients, within a classic Ponzi scheme. Geringer raised over $60 million from investors, the majority of them in the Santa Cruz area, according to the SEC. The SEC is seeking financial penalties from Geringer, in addition to the return of ill-gotten profits.

Brittany Hill was arrested right after the interested buyer Megan Heichelbeck, traveled from Florida to Dallas to see the child. She noted that the mother was dealing with an adoption agency and adoption fees could be involved. The price for the 4-month old was $4,000, as reported by Heichelbeck, although the ad mentions the price at $6,500. After she called authorities, police went to the woman’s house and discovered the baby alone in his baby bed. When the woman came back shortly was arrested and charged with child abandonment, a criminal offense. The baby is presently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
“I can no longer care for him the way he needs to be. We are living in a women’s shelter now,” the mother of the baby said. She says she was just seeking to raise money to get a lawyer for the process of adoption, not sell her son. “I know that’s illegal,” she said, speaking from jail. “I’m not stupid – that’s called, like, black-market something. I’ve read about it, I know.” “I will never have any more children,” she said. “If I could have had a hysterectomy, I would have done it a long time ago.”

In the ad, posted in the “foster care” section of the website PennysaverUSA, she wrote that she is in search of a “great family for my son”. Hill added that she loves and misses her son but isn’t financially capable of taking care of him. She is being held at the Dallas Local jail on $50,000 bail.

Protect yourself against cars scammers

Authorities warn customers to be cautious when buying or selling cars on classifieds sites. Websites like Kijiji and Craiglist are such websites to buy and sell vehicles, but also a good way for scammers to get rid of stolen vehicles. International scammers got rich selling unexistant cars, combining to-good-to-be-true offers with Western Union payments. They come with tales such as new jobs, medical problems or military situation in order to justify low prices. They persuade most of victims that they are affiliated with eBay’s vehicle purchase protection program. More and more stolen vehicles are sold on classified ads websites. Registering a car is not enough to be sure a acar is not stolen. Stolen cars still have the ability to ne registered. Ask to see the seller’s ID, compare the registration to the vehicle’s VIN number, or check the federal tag on the inside of the driver’s door. You can also do some research on the Internet by simply googling the car’s VIN. If the car have multiple registrations this sould be a big question mark. Sellers should be also careful when accepting payments. Avoid international payments (like Western Union) or fraudulent bank drafts. Nothing is as good as cash for a local transaction. The same car can be sold to many victims. By doing an investigation on the Internet you can find out if an advertisement for the same car can be found on nearly all the classified sites. Global scam is serious enough nowadays despite the efforts to prevent it.

All the major classified advertising websites agree to the following rules to follow to protect yourself against global scams:

- DEAL ONLY LOCALLY

- DON’T BUY A CAR YOU’VE NEVER SEEN AND PERSONALLY INSPECTED

- NEVER SEEND MONEY VIA VESTERN UNION OR OTHER WIRE TRANSFERS TO PERSONS YOU DON’T KNOW

- EBAY NEVER ALLOW TO USE ITS VEHICLE PROTECTION PROGRAM TO EVERYBODY (NOT EVEN TO CRAIGLIST).

Real estate scam – 1 million consumers tricked

The Federal Trade Comission has won a process against the advertisers of a large commercial scam that misled around 1 million customers countrywide to spend money allegedly to find out how to get rich with real estate deals over the Internet. The FTC is trying to return some $450 million to consumers cought up in the scam. The marketers are not operating the commercials anymore.

The ruling involves commercials for “John Beck’s Free & Clear Real Estate System,” “John Alexander’s Real Estate Riches in 14 Days” and “Jeff Paul’s Shortcuts to Internet Millions.”

The judge discovered that the commercials misled the customers, and despite of the claims of quick cash, all the people who who bought the $39.95 instruction kits lost money. In addition to false claims, the marketers failed to reveal that people would be automatically signed up for a program that cost another $39.95 each month.

In the case of John Beck program the marketers falsely advertised that customers could buy homes for pennies and could make easy money with minor finacial investment. Even if FTC won the judgement, it doesn’t absolutelly mean that customers will get refunds.
